A novel Pokémon Direct has just finished public exposure and give away lots of information on the upcoming games , Pokémon Sword & Shield ! Last things first , the release escort was revealed at the final stage of the Direct asNovember 15th 2019 .
A new trailer was shown during the Direct and included the first in - plot footage of the starters ( Grookey , Scorbunny , Sobble ) . Then we saw our first glance of new Pokémon :

Between all the city in the Galar region is something called theWild Area , a immense wild where many different Pokémon can be encountered , reckon on the weather condition or location .
The latter part of the trailer shows a giant Gyarados . It ’s revealed that this is a new phenomenon known asDynamax . Pokémon using Dynamax gain massively in size of it and encourage their power . It can only be used once per battle , but the Pokémon will retrovert to normal after 3 turns . Additionally , in the Wild Area 4 flight simulator can connect to take part in aMax Raid Battleagainst a Dynamaxed Pokémon , which is likely similar to Raid Battles in Pokémon Go .
Some new characters were also revealed including Leon , thegreatest trainer in the Galar part ; his younger blood brother Hop who is your competition ; Professor Magnolia who specialize in researching Dynamax ; and her granddaughter Sonia .
